The EU Commission has threatened to take legal action against the Spanish government, which is attempting to block the takeover bid launched by German utilities group E.ON on Endesa, the Spanish energy group. The government of Spain wants to ensure that Endesa continues to be owned by a Spanish company, and is supporting the bid made by Spanish gas group Gas Natural, which is considered to be hostile.
