In its largest water-rights filing since 1992, Southern Nevada Water Authority is seeking state permission to drill seven new wells in northwestern Clark County and pipe the groundwater to Las Vegas.
The proposed well sites are located south of U.S. Highway 95, about six miles west of Indian Springs. Water authority officials believe they can safely pump 16,000 acre-feet of groundwater a year from the area, enough to supply more than 22,000 Las Vegas households.
