CARISBROOKE Shipping has returned to Canada to fulfil its latest expansion and renewal plans, writes Hugh O'Mahony.

The Cowes-based shipowner has confirmed an order for three more 6,500 dwt, box shaped general cargo ships from Port Weller Dry Docks for a reported $13.2m apiece, bringing to five the number of identical ships on order at the Ontario yard.

Carisbrooke financial director Robert Wester said all five would be built to Ice Class 1A standard and that the latest order had followed on from the deal done in the second half of last year covering the first pair.
