On August 9, when Chuck Estes of Olympia, Washington, went outside at 4 a.m. to go to work, he noticed that the roof of his wife's convertible had been slashed and that stereo equipment had been stolen.
Rather than attempt to rectify the situation immediately, he decided to go to work; however, that decision was short-lived. As he drove down the street, he saw two youths getting in a car that held a bunch of electronics. He decided to investigate and stopped his vehicle. One young man immediately fled, but Estes was able to get the drop on the other young man, who was in the vehicle.
