As veteran readers of this publication are aware, THE NEW AMERICAN is the successor to a magazine begun in 1956 by Robert Welch, the eventual founder of the John Birch Society. Having worked closely with this remarkable individual for many years and having read everything he ever published (and some items he never released for publication), I know of the importance he placed on the printed word.
