As hurricane Dennis approached Bonita Springs, Florida, in early July, many local residents left the area and headed for safety, giving looters plenty of opportunity to wreak havoc.
One burglar, Davis Weber, took advantage of the evacuation to troll for empty residences. He went from house to house, knocking on doors, looking for unoccupied residences, reported the News-Press. If someone happened to answer his knock, he told the person that he was looking for the owner of a bodyboard that he bad found on the beach. When he came across an apparently unoccupied residence that didn't have cars in the driveway, he broke in and made himself at home--showering, brushing his teeth, and watching television.
