Motorcycle devotees sometimes suffer an image problem because of the lawlessness associated with renegade bikers, but a group of motorcycle owners in Idaho recently pitched in to help relieve the suffering of a distraught father and daughter.
The tragic circumstances that led to their act of charity stemmed from one of the most brutal crimes in recent memory: eight-year-old Shasta Kay Groene witnessed the murder of her mother, her older brother, and her mother's boyfriend, and was then abducted, along with another brother closer to her age. The abductor molested both children, then murdered her remaining brother.
Alert citizens saw Shasta in a store with her abductor and notified police, who rescued her. Shasta's information then helped police apprehend Joseph Edward Duncan III, a previously convicted felon.
Following her ordeal, young Shasta was reunited with her father, Steven Vincent Groene, and the two will attempt to pick up the pieces of their lives.
