Regarding "The Real Problem with Kelo" (July 25 issue), the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution of the United States provides in part: "... nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation." The private property in the Kelo case was not taken for public use; it was taken for private use.
Even if the Supreme Court had the constitutional authority to make a ruling in this case (which it doesn't), the United States Supreme Court decision in the subject case is not in conformity with the Fifth Amendment, and is in error.
Also, the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution of the United States provides in part: "The right of the people to be secure in ...
