After being convinced that Tamara Johnson was the victim of repeated physical abuse, a grand jury refused to forward to trial a case of voluntary manslaughter that was levied against her by prosecutors, reported the Knoxville News-Sentinel.

Tamara Johnson was initially arrested early on the morning of April 9 after shooting and killing her husband, Tim Johnson, in the Sundown Tavern, a bar they operated together. She said that she shot him after he "hit her several times in the face," continuing a long pattern of abuse.

She had made allegations of abuse against her husband in the past, and he had been convicted of domestic ...
