After hearing the sound of coins hitting the floor coming from the convenience store next to his house, store owner Robert Poage investigated and interrupted a thief in action.
In the store, Poage saw a man, who was wearing a ski mask and holding a tire iron, taking money from the cash register. Poage yelled and told the man to stop, but the man turned and ran to a waiting vehicle. Again Poage yelled, this time telling the man to exit the car. And again the man ignored him. As the man started his car's engine, Poage pulled his gun.
