While public attention has been focused on Iraq, Communist China has made astonishing inroads in Latin America. In early November, Chinese President Hu Jintao conducted a two-week tour of the region, sewing up several major trade agreements and laying the foundation for an anti-U.S. strategic coalition with several emerging leftist governments.
