During the early morning of Saturday, November 27, a Decatur, Georgia, security guard was forced to take action against a knife-wielding thug and shoot him, according to a November 29 AP wire service release.
The incident began at about 1:30 a.m. when a man rushed into the manager's office at the Super Inn Motel and told Earnest Marshall, the hotel's night manager, that his girlfriend was being attacked by someone in her room. Marshall called 911 and also contacted a security guard, Kirk Butler, who patrols a nearby business. Butler arrived at the scene before the police did.
