Mar. 7--PEORIA -- Ever hear someone tell you "You run like a girl"?

Peoria entrepreneur Jennifer Wright-Tubbs has taken that old insult and fashioned it into a new retail brand for athletic apparel called iRUNLIKEAGIRL.

The brand is designed to empower and inspire women and girls to run successfully in every aspect of life, Wright-Tubbs said.

But it's more than just apparel, she said.

An avid runner and mother of two, Wright-Tubbs, 34, said her business focuses on motivating women of all ages to run and maintain that passion for life, that "girl spirit." "It's about running through one's daily obligations, running through life's celebrations and disappointments, running for health, and running because you can," she said. "Because it's a business, apparel is the vehicle right now that will carry girls and women to this brand. But apparel is just the beginning."

The company's Web site, www.irunlikeagirl.com, offers testimonials from women of various ages about why they run and what running has brought to their lives. A work in progress, the site also features helpful running tips, stories, motivational songs and books.
