Abstract

Retaining excellent teachers who are devoted to teaching students in urban schools is more crucial than ever. Mentoring has been a common strategy to support and retain new teachers, and mentors have been reported to benefit considerably from the mentoring experience. This study focuses on the benefits for eight teacher mentors in an urban school district. Results indicate that the mentors' self-efficacy grew stronger as they interacted with new teachers.
