ORLANDO, Fla. -- Metreos Corporation, the leader in the Voice over IP (VoIP) application environment market, today announced at VoiceCon Spring 2006 that it has released a major upgrade to its flagship Metreos 2400 VoIP application environment. The new version adds support for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to the environment and enables the development of a vibrant VoIP application ecosystem for the SIP standards-based VoIP infrastructure market.
"Metreos continues to rapidly build our customer base and momentum and to enhance our leadership position in the VoIP application environment market," said Joel Fontenot, CEO of Metreos. "We are excited about the promise of SIP to enable applications to seamlessly run across heterogeneous IP telephony environments. This new release of our platform delivers the industry's only complete VoIP application environment with full SIP support."
The new version 2.2 of the Metreos 2400 VoIP application environment includes many improvements and new features. Some of the more important new capabilities include:
-- Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Support
Metreos seamlessly integrates support for SIP into the Metreos
Application Runtime, adding to a growing list of supported
call control protocols that includes H.323, SCCP, JTAPI, and
H.323. As with all call control protocols supported by the
Metreos environment, SIP is entirely abstracted for the
developer and interoperates seamlessly with all applications
built to run on the Metreos platform.
-- Cisco CallManager 4.2 and 5.0 Support
Metreos adds support for the latest releases of Cisco's IP
PBX, including the CallManager 5.0 release that now also
supports SIP. All interfaces to CallManager have been updated
to be compatible with these new releases enabling a seamless
migration path for all applications built on previous versions
of the Metreos application environment.
-- SIP-Enabled Application Suite
Popular Metreos packaged applications such as ActiveRelay,
VoiceTunnel, ClickToTalk and RapidRecord can now be deployed
using SIP on a standards-based, multi-vendor IP telephony
infrastructure.
-- Speech Recognition
Metreos adds speech recognition to the Metreos Media Engine,
adding to a growing list of sophisticated media processing
capabilities such as conferencing, prompt processing,
peer-to-peer media and text-to-speech. Developers can now take
advantage of integrated, easy-to-use speech recognition media
processing when building applications -- for example, to
recognize a spoken account code rather than requiring a user
to enter the account code using a ...
