THE NURSING Council proposes three scopes of practice in its consultation document on scopes, released last month. They are nurse practitioner (NP), nurse and second-level nurse. Under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act, the Council is required to develop scopes of practice to describe nursing, so the public has a clear understanding of the skills and qualification of nurses and of the health services they provide. The Council wants feedback on its consultation document by April 30.
