THE AUSTRALIAN CONSTITUTION was drafted by Australians, approved by the Australian people, and may only be altered with the approval of the Australian people.

If constitutional change requires the approval of the Australian electorate, it also requires an informed electorate. Sadly, as two Commonwealth government inquiries, established by the Hawke and Keating governments respectively, have shown, Australians are abysmally ignorant of just how they are governed or what their Constitution says and means.
