BEIJING, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- As trade union organizations around the globe are launching a global movement against economic globalization, which they see as a threat to their work, they expressed worries of hegemonism at the International Forum on Economic Globalization and Trade Unions held here Monday.
"At present, the world is dominated by one political power trying to direct everyone in what it believes is right, namely the United States," said Ibrahim Bhandour, the president of Organization of African Trade Union Unity.
"In the trade union arena, the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) is about to enjoy the same position," he said. "It will try to swallow through merger if possible other international and regional trade union organizations."
ICFTU was created in 1949, and during the Cold War and still, ICFTU enjoys the full support of the U.S. and European countries.
