Bucharest, 11 October: Heads of the two chambers of parliament Nicolae Vacaroiu and Valer Dorneanu on Monday [11 October] met President of the Republic of Chile Ricardo Lagos Escobar, who is on his first visit to Romania.

The main subjects dealt with during the talks referred to the numerous similarities of the recent developments experienced by the two countries from the dictatorship to a democratic system. The Chilean head of state said he was interested in Romania's experience as regards the consolidation of democracy and its efforts to join the European Union.
