AUSTRALIAN GAS LIGHT AWAITING FORMAL ALINTA MERGER PROPOSAL

PERTH - Merger target Australian Gas Light Company (AGL) (ASX:AGL) says it is still waiting on a formal merger proposal from Alinta (ASX:ALN), which announced its intentions at the beginning of the week.

After a meeting between the chairmen of the companies, AGL's Mark Johnson said he had given Alinta's John Poynton proposed confidentiality protocol regarding the merger suggestion.

AUSTRALIAN BIODIESEL STARTS INDUSTRY STANDARD PRICING OF FUEL

PERTH - Renewable fuel company Australian Biodiesel Group (ASX:ABJ) has started selling its fuel alongside the traditional diesel, becoming the first company in Australia to do so.

It has today started the industry standard of terminal gate pricing (TPG) for the bulk supply of biodiesel from its Berkeley Vale production facility on the New South Wales central coast.

CANBERRA - Prime Minister John Howard's attempts to embrace nuclear power are an attempt to help BHP Billiton (ASX:BHP) export uranium to China and India, the Australian Greens say.
