Hold-ups on Luas route after city centre collision.

A CAR collided with a tram on the newest Luas route yesterday in Dublin city centre just a day after formal operations began on the line.

The collision at about 4.15pm involved a blue Audi at the junction of Mary Street and Capel Street, near O'Connell Street.

There were no reported injuries on the crowded tram and the male driver of the car was also uninjured.

Operations on the Luas system's Red Line from Tallaght to the city centre were delayed and gardai and incident officers from Luas operators Connex arrived on the scene.

A Connex spokesperson pointed out that there are 34 junctions along the Red Line …
