Byline: International alliances and national networks are no contradiction for the German federal government's co-ordinator for the maritime sector, Georg Wilhelm Adamowitsch. Uwe Cardaun put the questions on behalf of Hamburg Messe
Where do you see your main task as co-ordinator for the maritime sector?
The co-ordinator for the maritime sector is responsible for formulating consistent policy, taking into account the parameters for the maritime sector.
The subjects range from matters of industrial and European policy relevant for budgetary requirements to locational and social issues. Here it is necessary to co-ordinate the various federal and state areas of responsibility.
Our tasks also include making greater use of networking potentials within the maritime sector. Joint ventures or the formation of alliances can only be based on entrepreneurial decisions.
This applies equally for shipbuilding, sea transport and the port sector, the main actors being the companies with the state playing a mediating role.
