PRODUCT carriers are the latest ship types to smash price records at the yards, with STX Shipbuilding of South Korea winning an order for four medium range, 47,000 dwt product carriers from Sovcomflot of Russia for a combined $170m.
The 47 type is a particular favourite at STX, whose backlog now stretches to 104 ships worth $3.2bn. This latest quartet will all be delivered by the end of 2007.
