(From Canberra Times)
Okay, this is a Floriade story but we promise - at least on this occasion - not to mention tulips, daisies or poppies.
Contrary to popular belief, Floriade is not solely about things horticultural.
For those who want more than floral arrangements (as wondrous as they are), Floriade also features daily musical performances and the popular Children's Village and Craftman's Corner.
Craftman's Corner features art, craft, food, clothes and jewellery to keep adults amused, while youngsters can head to the Children's Village for envirocraft workshops, face painting, storybook readings and performances.
The Village Stage has proved a popular attraction for the city's lunchtime crowds. Each week, the stage has a different theme, with ''fun and funk'' being the most recent lively focus.
A diverse range of acts has performed, including Harii Bandhu, the Roving Raqs Sharquis Egyptian Dance Troupe, and the Samoan Multicultural Youth Association.
