Catchment care An ACT Water Supply Catchment Management Group has been established to oversee management in the Cotter Catchment. Announcing its establishment on Wednesday Chief Minister Jon Stanhope said the group would be responsible for the development and adoption of principles and management objectives for ACT water supply catchments, in accordance with an Integrated Water Supply Strategy for the region. The Government had provided $500,000 in the Budget to implement the new arrangements in ACT water supply catchments. ''The intent is to ensure that water supply issues are properly incorporated into land management arrangements and on-the- ground catchment management activities,'' he said. The group will be chaired by the chief executive officer of the Cooperative Research Centre for Freshwater Ecology, Gary Jones.
