More than three decades since entering politics and after running most of the portfolios in the ACT Government, retiring Brindabella MLA Bill Wood was farewelled from politics yesterday.
At a function at the Legislative Assembly last night, Mr Wood thanked his family, colleagues and Public Service staff who assisted him during his time in ACT politics.At the function he was surrounded by memorabilia stretching as far back as his time as a Member of Queensland state Parliament in the 1960s.
Mr Wood, who is not contesting the October 16 election, is one of only two people to have been a member of the Legislative Assembly since it began in 1989 - the other is Ginninderra MLA Wayne Berry.
