An electronic voting system that could one day be the standard for conducting elections is again in use for the October 16 ACT poll.
Under a system offered nowhere else in Australia, the ACT Electoral Commission is offering voters the chance to cast a vote for the local election using computers stationed at polling stations.
Pre-poll voting centres in the major town centres and Civic opened on Wednesday and are using electronic voting in addition to the traditional method. Electronic voting will also be available at Melba, Ngunnawal, Richardson and Weston on election day.
