(From Canberra Times)
It costs $12,000 a year to go to Canberra Grammar School. The fees are not tax deductible. It's all hard-earned money.
On top of this, Grammar receives Government funding (mainly federal) of $2354 per student.
Each parent is saving the Government about $9000 per child per year.
Parents raise these fees through varying degrees of hard work, sacrifice and borrowing against their houses.
I can assure you there is nothing elite about it! It's just a hard slog for the vast majority of parents who dare send their children to a non-Government school.
Labor's funding model is totally unfair. This wildly inaccurate model is trying to base education funding for non-Government schools on parents' incomes, determined by school fees.
