Dragons' pennant put on hold

Jim Allen Daily Yomiuri Sportswriter

Alex Ramirez did all the celebrating Thursday night at Jingu Stadium, when he homered twice to prevent the Chunichi Dragons from clinching the Central League pennant.

Ramirez's second homer of the night, a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifted the Yakult Swallows to a thrilling 5-3 victory over the Dragons, who will try again to clinch at Nagoya Dome tonight against the Hiroshima Carp. The Dragons can also clinch if the Swallows lose any of their remaining nine games.

Dragons fans packed Jingu--giving the Swallows their first sellout of the season.
