Abductees' families voice dismay over Nakayama's resignation
Yomiuri
Families of those abducted by North Korea have reacted with dismay to the announcement of Kyoko Nakayama's resignation as Cabinet Secretariat adviser on abduction issues.
They doubt that anyone else can replace Nakayama, who has enjoyed great trust from them as an official who has always stood by them as the government seeks to resolve the abduction issue.
One relative of an abductee said, "I couldn't believe the news," while another asked: "Why? We're now entering the crucial stage of the issue."
The abduction issue is still far from a final resolution as no information has been provided by Pyongyang concerning the fate of 10 abductees, whose fate is still unknown.
