Bangkok, Sept 28 NZPA - Thai dairy farmers will press New Zealand to provide industry restructuring assistance funds for Thai farms during a visit this week by Trade Minister Jim Sutton.

The proposed assistance would be for farms forced to close, due to increased competition from New Zealand dairy products under a free trade agreement now under negotiation.

The Thai Holstein Friesian Association, led by Adul Vangtal, said the dairy farmers would be seeking financial support for an ``exit fund'' for non-competitive farmers.
