Ovarian tissue transplant offers hope to thousands A MOTHER made infertile by cancer treatment told of her joy yesterday as she became the first woman in the world to give birth following an ovarian tissue transplant.

Mike Waites Health Correspondent Doctors last night hailed the birth of Tamara Touriat as giving a "message of hope" to thousands of women and girls who are given the dreadful news that they will become childless because of cancer therapies.

Belgian Ouarda Touriat, 32, had her ovaries removed and frozen seven years ago when she underwent chemotherapy for Hodgkin's lymphoma.
