As this issue went to press, General Motors Corp, recalled all the Saturn Vue sport-utility vehicles it had ever made-nearly a quarter million vehicles-because of a suspension failure that turned up in a government safety test.
The left rear suspension failed on two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive Vues undergoing the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's dynamic rollover testing. According to Brian Bachman, a Saturn spokesman, the failure took place when the test vehicle was making a corrective maneuver to the right at 45 mph. The left rear wheel "tucked under" the vehicle. This prevented the Vue from completing the rollover test.
