The Venice Golf Association's course is on public land. And yet the Venice City Council says it does not know who owns stock in the VGA.

The City Council should find out, but so far has shown no inclination to do so. Nor has the VGA voluntarily provided a list of its stockholders, who benefit from an arrangement in which the city leases land to the VGA, a private corporation.
