Taking responsibility.(Law)
FOR MANY YEARS now, courts throughout the common law world have awarded damages to plaintiffs without paying any regard to the concept of personal responsibility. Many of these cases are collected in websites on the internet. In a speech I recently made to the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in Perth I referred to two examples of cases of this kind which were said to be part of the Stella Awards, that is, awards given to the most outlandish examples of negligence verdicts.
