Although adult learners have become a significant part of the student body, they inspire many misconceptions. At the National Association of Student Personnel Administrator (NASPA) conference in March in Denver, Dr. Charlene H. Harrison, director of the Center for Adult Learner Services at Pennsylvania State University, discussed some myths and truths about them.

What we think we know about adult learners
Adult learners at Penn State are defined as:
- age 24 years or more, or
- veteran of the armed services, or
- back in school after four or more years out, or
