Mississippi State University plans to open an Office of Parent Services in response to a growing number of phone calls from parents. MSU is not alone in catering to parents. As college costs soar, parents want more involvement in where they send their students and their money.

One organization helping parents is Administrators Promoting Parent Involvement, which began in 1998 at 30 schools and today has more than 80 members.
