Federal agencies need to do more to ensure that federal grant recipients do not discriminate against women in mathematics, engineering and science, according to a report by the Government Accountability Office.
The report, "Women's Participation in the Sciences Has Increased, but Agencies Need to Do More to Ensure Compliance with Title IX," notes that although the number of female scientists has risen, men still outnumber women in almost every scientific field. Also, female faculty still lag behind males in terms of rank and salary.
