President Kibaki arrived in Mombasa yesterday, ready for the burial of his close friend and political ally Cabinet minister Karisa Maitha.

His arrival, in keeping with the solemnity of the occasion, was stripped of all but essentials and the usual choirs and traditional dancers who entertain him were absent.
