KYOCERA TO SELL PHS DATA COMMUNICATIONS DEVICE IN CHINA

OSAKA - Kyocera Corp. (TSE:6971) plans to release a PHS (personal handyphone system) data communications device in the Chinese market this autumn, targeting a new service to be launched by China Telecommunications Corp., The Nihon Keizai Shimbun learned Friday.

China Telecom plans to launch the wireless data communications service -- the first of its kind for the country -- this November in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, for a monthly fixed rate of 300 yuan, or about US$35.
