Chi Mei seeks LCD TV zone near science park.

Chi Mei Optoelectronics is asking LCD TV makers to develop a LCD TV manufacturing zone just outside the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP), where the island's second largest TFT-LCD panel maker maintains most of its operations, according to a recent report by the local Taiwan Daily.

The Cabinet-level Council for Economic Planning and Development (CEPD) has thrown its support behind the project and has asked the Kaohsiung office of the Directorate General of Customs and Tainan County government to allow various tax benefits and perks for companies operating in the zone.
