Voters grumbled about delays in opening the polling stations, names missing from lists of registered electors and the actions of election staff. By mid-evening, 1,300 complaints had been logged.

On polling day in 2000, 1,427 complaints were received by the Electoral Affairs Commission.

Of this year's complaints, 426 were about the display of election publicity materials, 125 about canvassing in prohibited zones outside polling stations and 140 about electoral arrangements.
