Godolphin's Doyen disappointed in the Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown yesterday as Azamour swept to victory.

Doyen, the 4-5 favourite and winner of the King George, looked off colour as he trailed in seventh under Frankie Dettori.

The four-year-old colt raced fourth as pacemaker and stable companion Millstreet made the running. Millstreet was headed turning into the straight and Doyen ranged up on the outside in third but, once asked for his effort, he began to weaken.
