Computer server revenue jumped 23.7 per cent in China and 59.4 per cent in Hong Kong in the second quarter as multinationals expanded at the expense of local vendors, research firm Gartner said.

Server revenue rose to US$488.3 million (HK$3.81 billion) in the second quarter from US$394.7 million a year ago in China, while Hong Kong's increased to US$62.8 million from US$39.4 million, it said. Revenue rose by 12.4 per cent to US$1.37 billion in the Asia-Pacific region, excluding Japan.

Of the two market leaders, IBM's market share rose to 37.2 per cent from 36 per cent while Hewlett-Packard's edged up 0.1 of a percentage point to 30.7 per cent.
