Taipei city gov't rejects 50-50 share of blame for Sanchung flooding.

The Taipei City Government yesterday refused to abide by an investigation conclusion requiring it to share 50-50 the responsibility for the recent flooding in Sanchung City with the contractors of an ongoing extension of Taipei's rapid transit system network.

The conclusion makes no sense from a legal point of view, said Deputy Taipei Mayor Yeh Ching-chuan and the city government's legal affairs department head Chen Ching-hsiu.

The city government will continue to negotiate with the associations responsible for the investigation, and would not rule out the possibility of seeking a judicial ruling on who should share more of the …
