Orlando Pirates have pulled off a major coup by snaffling promising Bafana Bafana winger Tyren Arendse despite the interest of big-spenders Mamelodi Sundowns.

The transfer window for the movement of players in soccer's Premier League closed today. Yesterday Arendse inked the deal that will see him move from Santos to Pirates.

Arendse, who will be 24 on December 31, was born in Eerste River and is a product of Santos' youth development programme. Since making his senior team debut in 1999, he has enjoyed a meteoric rise - quickly establishing himself as crucial to the Santos …
