I READ with great interest the article on education in The Sunday Column (NST, Aug 22). Indeed, it is my pastime to read news from Malaysia. I am very glad the writer mentioned the Bukit Bintang Girls School. Having lived abroad for the last 25 years, I still have great respect for my beloved school.
I would like Malaysians to speak more English and Mandarin besides our national language Bahasa Malaysia. In French public schools, some heads have introduced three hours of Mandarin every week.
In a well-known private school, Chinese lessons are also being introduced.
