TOKYO, Sept 1 Asia Pulse - Sankyo Co. (TSE:4501) plans within the year to increase its medical representatives in the U.S. by 20 per cent to 600 in a bid to expand sales of its Benicar hypertension treatment.
Medical representatives will be added at U.S. subsidiary Sankyo Pharma Inc., which now has around 500 selling two products: Benicar and WelChol, a lipid-lowering agent.
Benicar is a type of anti-hypertensive agent known as an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB).
