WASHINGTON, Sept 1 Asia Pulse - The chairman of South Korea's broadcast regulating body met his U.S. counterpart here Tuesday to enhance cooperation in digital broadcasting, which Seoul plans to introduce on a U.S.-backed standard, South Korean officials here said.
Noh Sung-dai of the Korean Broadcasting Commission held talks with Michael Powell of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to seek exchanges of staff and technology in the field of digital broadcasting, commission officials said.
Noh flew to Washington Saturday and plans to visit Canada this week.
South Korea became the second country after Canada to adopt a technology backed by the United States as its digital television standard. In July, it ended a four-year dispute between the government and local broadcasters, as the latter preferred the European standard for its advantages in mobility and price.
