MEASURES NEEDED IF INT'L CRUDE PRICES RISE MORE: INDIA'S BPCL.
MUMBAI, Sept 1 Asia Pulse - Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd has said a combination of measures including further duty reduction, price rise and sharing of subsidy would have to be worked out to protect oil companies if the current escalation in international crude prices continues for the rest of the fiscal.
"If crude prices continue to rise we will have to work out a strategy like last year and a combination of measures including further duty reduction, price rise and sharing of subsidy will have to be undertaken," BPCL chairman and managing director S Behuria told reporters last night.
The company has lost about Rs 12.7 billion (US$274.3 million) during the last quarter on account of LPG and kerosene subsidy, he said.
